Great capture. I have competed against MCJROTC Units before, and I like how serious most of them act during the competitions. I really like how serious he is and his posture is good as well.
What marvels me is how dedicatedly patriotic this young rotc marine is.. (noticed the badge.. hehe).. As diplomatic as he really is, the fact that he looked nothing more than 19 yet sternly matured for his age is what makes this photo a great work of yours amongst your gallery. It makes one think for a while, the price one pays to be serving one's country and her leader... whether it's worth it or not. But through the eyes of this young marine, I can't help but notice how much love he has for his country.. YOUR country.
The blur on the flag in the background adds a more subtle feeling to the shot here too. But the 2nd guy in the background does make me feel edgy a little coz it brings my eye away from the main subject.. Still, well done.
Did the Marines already purchase a license from you to use this shot for their next commercial?
Great photo with that one young recruit in the foreground and the out-of-focus hint of the American flag in the background.
Always fascinating how you can cope with such situations and to see you come up with journalistic action shots that have the quality of perfectly planed and executed studio photo.
marines kick ass, bottom line. as for critique, everything seems fine. good lighting, good contrast, good composition. i might suggest a black border seperated from the photo with a white line. the all white frame just seems a little too bright to me. if not different color, than maybe just smaller?
And thanks a mil for the comment; it made my day.
